High-Speed Time-Division Display Using an Electro-Optic Polymer Optical Phased Array

We have been developing electro-optic (EO) polymer optical phased arrays (OPAs) toward compact, lightweight and thin AR glasses capable of reconstructing natural 3D images through high-speed optical beam scanning in 3D space. Owing to the rapid refractive index modulation of the EO polymer in response to applied voltage, the EO polymer OPAs can control the output optical phase distribution at high speed with low power consumption. In this presentation, we report on the design and fabrication of EO polymer OPAs operating in the near-infrared wavelength, which is being investigated as a feasibility study toward high-speed time-division three-dimensional display using visible light, as well as the demonstration of time-division 2D pattern display using the fabricated OPA. |
