In omnidirectional AR tabletop 3D displays designed for intuitive collaborative work among multiple users, the
ability to interact with virtual objects directly using hands is highly desired. However, conventional top-down projection methods
suffer from an occlusion problem; when users reach out during operation, their hands and arms physically block the projection
light, casting shadows on the images. To address this issue, we propose a novel display system that introduces a waveguide for
image input. Rather than projecting light directly through the air, images propagate internally through the waveguide to the
screen, successfully avoiding interference between users' hands and the projection light, and presenting omnidirectional images
without obstructing the viewing space. |
