Conditions for Content-Preserving Output Manipulation of Vision-Language Models via Adversarial Images

(in English) When VLM outputs are automatically passed to downstream processes, output manipulation through images can become an attack vector. This paper investigates content-preserving output manipulation that appends an attacker-specified string while retaining the caption generated by a VLM from the original image. To control the resulting long sequence, we divide the target sequence into four functional regions and propose optimizing the input image using a region-weighted cross-entropy loss. Experimental results confirm that small image perturbations can steer the VLM to generate the original caption followed by the specified string and EOS.
