NHK Science & Technology Research Laboratories (NHK STRL) is developing a novel music visualization to create new ways of representing content. Aiming to develop new educational content, enhance entertainment value, and improve accessibility, this study proposes a method to visualize the content and impression of a musical piece - reflecting its ever-changing expressive qualities - based on an analysis of the music itself. Unlike conventional visualizers that visualize acoustic data or VJ techniques that synchronize existing video with music, this method is distinguished by its use of music-theoretic and emotional parameters generated through music analysis. Furthermore, we have created visualization designs tailored to these parameters and the video content, as well as a music visualization system that implements them. This presentation reports on music analysis, music visualization design, the construction of a music visualization system, and the prototype content of music visualization. |
