Design of a small and low profile print antenna using Peano line operating at 1GHz

(in English) An electrically small and low profile print antenna using Peano line is presented. A half-wavelength linear antenna is fed at an offset position from the center for a structure having a metallic back conductor with which the feed is coupled. Furthermore, a Peano line element is used for electrically small size. In the Peano line element, current on a pair of neighboring lines with the longest length is less canceled out, because the phase of the pair of neighboring lines in the Peano element is different. Also, we have fabricate a low profile antenna with a metallic back conductor at the position of 50 μm away from the element, and measured the radiation efficiency. The radiation efficiency of Peano antenna has increased by 3 dB compared to that of meander antenna.
