形状知覚に輪郭の同期が与える効果

形状知覚のメカニズムとして注目されているものに、一次視覚皮質（V1）における物体形状の中心軸表現と神経細胞の同期発火がある。同期に関する研究は主に電気生理で進んでいるが、同期の形状知覚過程への直接の寄与は未だ明らかになっていない。本研究では、異なる同期率で点滅する輪郭で構成された刺激を用いて、図方向知覚に対して同期が与える効果を心理物理実験により検討した。実験の結果、同期率の高い刺激に対して図知覚が促進されることがわかった。また、刺激の形状の違いによる図方向決定の変調に差はなく、形状によらず、同期の効果によって形状知覚に変化が起こることが示唆された。 |

Medial-axis representation of object shape in V1 and the synchronous firing of neurons attract attention as mechanisms of shape perception. Although physiological studies on synchronization have been advanced, the direct evidence of synchronization on shape perception has not been clarified. In the present study, we investigated psychophysically the effect of synchronization on shape perception with stimuli consisting of contours that flicker at distinct synchronous rate. Our results showed that the perception of figure direction is facilitated for an object with higher synchronization rate. The magnitude of modulation in the perception of figure direction was independent of stimuli shape. The results suggest that the synchronization of stimulus contour is crucial for shape perception. |
