Motion-direction dependency of binocular depth facilitation caused by stimulus movements

(in English) It is known that stimulus movements facilitate stereopsis induced by very large disparity that cause diplopia. We examined the motion-direction dependence of the depth facilitation. The test stimulus consisted of two dots presented 5 deg above or below the facilitation point. Disparity gradient ranged from ±0.04 to ±1.3 was given to the stimulus. Two dots oscillated horizontally or vertically in the same or opposite phase at 0.5Hz. Seven observers responded apparent depth with a matching method. The rest showed that the facilitation was restricted to the condition with horizontal motion in the opposite phase.
