We have developed a transfer technology to fabricate a flexible organic TFT (OTFT) backplane for a large-area and high-resolution flexible display. The OTFT backplane, which was formed on a glass substrate with a temporary adhesive layer, was composed of gate electrodes, polymer gate dielectrics, source/drain electrodes, an organic semiconductor layer and pixel electrodes. After formation of passivation layer and bonding of a plastic film on the surface of the backplane, it was peeled off the glass substrate. The electrical characteristics of the OTFT backplane were evaluated, before and after the backplane was transferred. We have confirmed that a transfer technology is effective in fabricating flexible displays. |
