Experimental Study on Quasi-Stereoscopic View by Subjective Evaluation in Perception of Circular Cone Images Displayed on Video Display Screens

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) An experimental study on the perception of quasi-stereoscopic view for the images of a green circular cone on a video display screen was carried out by subjective evaluation for 20 subjects when a digital camera was set at a position on the normal line to the plane of background wall. Since no specific shadow was recognized by no sharp edge on the cone images, the highest quasi-stereoscopic view was satisfactorily perceived at a confidence limit of 95% for the green circular cone images displayed on the video display screen when the light of illumination was incident onto the cone at a rotation angle in the range of 39°to 55°(a mean value of 46°) and at a tilt angle in the range of 40°to 54°(a mean value of: 48°).
