We have tried to represent waves generated by a water bird by using computer graphics. There are two kinds of waves: wake wave and reflected wave. Wake wave is generated after a water bird moves, while reflected wave is generated due to the moving of the breast of a water bird. It is known that wake waves form Kelvin waves so that a wake wave can be generated by combining multiple Kelvin waves. In the generation, some parameters such as the speed of a water bird and the phase of Kelvin waves are necessary so that they are estimated by referring to papers on ship. On the other hand, reflected wave has the property that the angle of the wave becomes narrower as the speed of a water bird becomes faster. This phenomenon is approximated by using Mach wave. Finally, we have confirmed that the proposed method can generate wake waves correctly by comparing the generated CG images and the photographs of a swimming water bird. |
