Band Diagram Analysis of 2-D EBG structure Composed of Drude Type Frequency-Dependent Material

(in English) Abstract: In this paper, band diagram of 2D electromagnetic band gap (EBG) structure composed of Drude type frequency-dependent materials is analyzed using a new finite-difference frequency-domain (FDFD) algorithm. In reality, almost all of the materials are frequency-dependent, therefore accurate modeling of EBG structures is highly needed. It is well known that the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method is also applicable to model the frequency-dependent EBG structures. However, in FDTD method, there is possibility of missing some of the real propagation modes, because FDTD use spectral analysis and it is very difficult to reduce the uncertainty in identifying of all possible pairs of spectral peaks. The new derived FDFD algorithm is capable to clearly model and calculate the propagating modes in Drude type frequency-dependent material.
