Unpleasantness Degree, Picture Quality and General Preferability of Modificated Shaky Images

(in English) In order to find shaky images before broadcasting them, which probably evoke high unpleasantness of viewers, the author developed a system which estimates the unpleasantness degree evoked by shaking images in real time, and reported the system last year. It is necessary to modify the shaky images, which are estimated to evoke high unpleasantness but should be used in broadcasting programs, and to restrain the unpleasantness. The modification process, however, brings deterioration of picture quality. On the other hand, images containing a certain level of shakiness are preferred in some scenes. The author investigated the unpleasantness degree, picture quality and general preferability of modified shaky images, which belong to three different scene classification each, concerning to the modification level. As a result of psychological estimation experiments, the relationship between the most preferable level of residual shakiness and the scene classification.
