Basic study of MIMO-OFDM system with Walsh code scattered pilot -- Comparison of SFBC MIMO and SDM MIMO under mobile reception environment by computer simulation --

(in English) We are developing a next-generation terrestrial broadcasting transmission system for handheld and mobile reception which uses two transmission antennas and two receiving antennas (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output: MIMO) and be able to transmit large capacity contents stably. In the case of MIMO system, channel impulse responses from each transmission antenna to each reception antenna must be estimated. We have studied the estimation method by Walsh coded scattered pilot. This paper describes the computer simulation results of the SFBC-MIMO and the SDM-MIMO transmission system under mobile reception environments. As the result, the SFBC-MIMO system reception performance is better than SDM-MIMO system when the transmission rate is 3bits/Hz or less.
