[Special Talk] The production engineering plans for road races

(in English) In 2003, terrestrial digital HDTV broadcasting service started. Most of the TV programs were produced in HDTV. However, at that time there were some difficulties for broadcasting live road races in HDTV, as there wasn’t enough capacity to send the transmission in those days. We solved the problem of live broadcasting for road races by using a new transmission system. It uses ARIB STD-B33 digital 800MHz FPU and H. 264 CODEC. In addition to those technologies, we also use some other techniques to produce road race programs more simply and stably. We will introduce our method in this report.
According to the new frequency allocation plan, broadcasters are required to adjust their transmission frequencies for FPU equipment from 800MHz to 1.2 / 2.3GHz. We also continue to develop transmission techniques to adapt to the new frequencies.
