Faster Video Scene Retrieval by Multiple Query Images using Image Piece Word Histogram

(in English) We are researching new technologies to retrieval video scenes targeting large volume of video. Major approaches for visual-based video retrieval include a shot retrieval by one query image. But TV productions need to retrieve on not only a “too-short-time” shot basis but also a scene (multiple sequential shots) basis by multiple query images. However, the reduction of calculation cost is a big issue because it is required to calculate the “all-to-all” image similarities between query images and all shot images in each scene. In this paper, we propose a new method to reduce cost for similarity calculation by pre-clustering of scenes based on our original video feature “histogram of image piece words” and narrowing down the retrieval target clusters.
