A new approach for impression transformation of 3D faces using Support Vector Machine

(in English) In order to create 3D faces displaying facial expressions, transformation of the face shape from the original straight face is usually done by manually adjusting the design of each facial feature independently. With this approach, however, proper adjustment of the parameters defining the design of mutually influencing facial features so that overall naturalness of the facial expressions is achieved is likely to be a cumbersome task. In this work, on the other hand, we built a morphable 3D face model learned from a multitude of 3D face data displaying various facial expressions, and conducted an experiment to generate various facial expressions on a novel face by properly controlling the parameters defining the morphable model. Moreover, we emphasized feature of similar facial expressions using the discrimination boundary in the parametric space defined by Support Vector Machine.
