Development of Noise Reduction Technology for Cameras

(in English) In order to recognize the obstacle under the darkness of night, in-vehicle cameras are required that can capture clear images with less noise. Conventional noise reduction technologies raise the issue of resolution degradation although they provide low noise images. In this paper, we propose the new noise reduction technology which can realize both edge preservation and noise reduction. This technology is based on edge information analysis and human visibility information analysis. The result of evaluation by image simulation showed that both high resolution and low noise can be realized using our proposed method.
