Numerical analysis of optical tomographic imaging using virtual phase conjugation

We propose a new optical tomographic imaging using phase conjugation technique through the virtual optics. This technology relies on modulation for the light passing through a random diffuser and demodulation for the light generated by the time-reverse property of phase conjugation. The operation principle of this technology is highly unique and completely different from that of well-known optical coherence tomography (OCT). Thus, this technology can yield considerably higher resolution than the OCT. This technology realizes the miniaturization of actual optics, by which the modulation and the demodulation are implemented through virtual optics. In addition, this technology enables the three-dimensional measurement without mechanical scanning because that is based on the optical complex amplitude control technique. In our simulation, we demonstrate the basic operation of our technology and clarify its great potential for tomographic imaging. |
