Development of an adaptive optics visual simulator for contrast sensitivity function measurement

(in English) We developed an adaptive optics visual simulator (AOVS) to study the relationship between the aberration of human eye and contrast sensitivity. A desired synthetic aberration was virtually generated on a subject eye by the AOVS which had a liquid crystal phase modulator and a large-contrast-range display system. The contrast sensitivity was measured by the AOVS in a psychophysical experiment using visual stimulus patterns provided by two liquid crystal displays illuminated by red light emitting diodes from the backside. Experiments conducted with four normal subjects revealed that visual experience may cause the correction of the blurred image by aberrations.
