Improving Performance of Graph-Based Web Video Search Reranking

This paper presents a new method for improving performance of graph-based Web video search reranking. The proposed method tries to extract topics from a Web video group obtained by keyword search and improve the performance of video search reranking by calculating video similarity based on a topic-based measure. Specifically, the proposed method constructs three subgraphs: a user graph, a video graph, and a tag graph, and combines three types of graphs. Then extraction of topics becomes feasible by applying graph-based soft clustering to the combined graph and grouping different types of data as clusters (topics). Furthermore, by estimating topic membership for each video, the proposed method defines a video similarity measure and formulates the video search reranking as an optimization problem. Since the quality of video content understanding is enhanced by taking advantage of topics obtained from different types of data, which complement each other, the proposed method can improve the performance of video search reranking. |
