A note on dimensionality reduction for Web image visualization

Abstract This paper makes a study on a dimensionality reduction for Web image visualization. Dimensionality reduction for subsequent operations such as visualization plays an important role in revealing the intrinsic characteristics of the high-dimensional datasets. Recently, multimedia data such as images and videos often contain the different information sources.
However, popular dimensionality reduction method cannot utilize the several information sources since these methods use all features extracted from different modalities as one feature. In this paper, we focus on LPCCA as the dimensionality reduction method for Web image visualization. LPCCA is a dimensionality reduction method which extracts the latent features based on
the correlation between different features. We expect that LPCCA performs better visualization compared to the dimensionality reduction method which uses one feature. In the experiments, we compare the visualization results of LPCCA and those of several dimensionality reduction methods. |
