Angular-multiplexing Holographic Memory System with Large Capacity and Fast Transfer Rate

(in English) Aiming at realization of optical storage system with large capacity and fast transfer rate suitable for digital data archiving, we developed a physical specification of angular-multiplexing holographic memory system with data capacity of terabyte class and data transfer rate of gigabit/second class. Then we developed techniques of high density recording, and jointly developed a disc and major components with several companies to satisfy the specification. As the techniques of high density recording, an RLL high density recording technique that reduces hologram size to half and an RLL turbo decoding technique that enables to decode reproduced signal of SNR 2.4 dB were invented. Eventually, we set up evaluation equipment installed the high density recording techniques and the co-developed components, and verified high density recording of 2.4 terabits/inch2 on the equipment.
