A time code signal transmission for 4K/8K program production with a 120-Hz frame frequency

(in English) NHK has been researching 8K system with a 120-Hz frame frequency. The time code signal for a 120-Hz frame frequency system was standardized as SMPTE ST12-3 in February 2016. The new transmission interface for the 120-Hz frame frequency time code signal was needed because the current time code transmission system operated at 30 Hz and below. In this paper, we discuss a new 120-Hz time code signal transmission over HD-SDI. Further, we discuss a time code reader/generator prototype that we developed in this study. We also confirmed the effectiveness of the time code transmission over HD-SDI.
