Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Mobile devices with a small touch screen have a difficulty on entering characters. As the solution, AR Typing Interface has been proposed, in which a user can input texts with a virtual keyboard overlaid with the image of a real user's hand behind the device using Augmented Reality technology. However, their recognition algorithm was only able to discriminate large typing actions. In this paper, we propose a new algorithm that uses time-series optical flows to discriminate typing actions more precisely. This method generates feature vectors from the time-series optical flow data and performs discrimination using the nearest neighbor algorithm. The result of evaluation showed that the proposed method achieved about 80% recognition rate.
