8K UHDTV-HDR Live Program Production -- Prototype System and Trial Production --

(in English) We constructed a live-program-production system for 8K with high dynamic range (HDR) using Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG) format which will be used for 4K and 8K broadcasting. The system was composed of 8K HDR cameras applied an HLG opto-electronic transfer function (OETF), an 8K HDR displays applied an HLG electro-optical transfer function (EOTF), and pieces of existing equipment for 8K program production including a video switcher, a recorder, and a character super-imposer. We used the system to experimentally produce live programs including indoor and outdoor scenes with a person. The results indicate the effectiveness of 8K HDR and the feasibility of implementing an HLG-based HDR live-program-production system without difficulties.
