Frame-rate Conversion of Digital Cinema by Spatio-temporal Contrast Compensation Considering Eye-trace Integration Effect

(in English) In order to broadcast a 4K digital cinema content to 8K UHDTV (Ultra High-Definition Television) broadcasting, we propose a frame-rate conversion method from 24 to 120 frame per second. The proposed method uses a linear-filtering frame interpolation method by compensating of spatio-temporal contrast sensitivity of human vision to suppress an artifact of multiple contour of a moving object. Experiments show that the proposed method provides a subjectively better appearance in comparison with the conventional frame-rate conversion methods.
