OFDM Pilot Levels of Microwave Link for 4K・8K Broadcasting Program Contribution

(in English) We are developing a microwave link, which we call an FPU (Field Pick-up Unit), that can transmit 4K・8K signals for live remote broadcast. To increase the data rate, a dual-polarized MIMO (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output), an ultra-multilevel OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) and an 8192-point FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) have been introduced. Introducing those technics, new pilot patterns different from the currently used FPU are added to the OFDM frame. In this paper, the optimum amplitudes of the pilots in the OFDM frames are found by computer simulations with AWGN environment. The simulations are also carried out with a mobile channel and with the effect of nonlinear power amplifier and it is found that that the optimum amplitudes found by the simulations with AWGN environment are also valid for the mobile channel and the nonlinear power amplifier.
