A lot of studies have been reported on automatic extraction of feature points that represent shape of each facial part from photographed facial images. However conventional methods cannot extract detailed personal facial features such as specific nose shape and the difference of single-edged or double-edged eyelid. This paper deals with the detection of the wings of nose, the bridge line of nose and double-edged eyelids from front facial images without expressions. A method of accurate extraction of these facial parts based on the characteristics of gray level distribution in each region is proposed. Furthermore the classification of gray level distribution patterns in nose region and eyelid regions are carried out by SVM using extracted image feature parameters. Obtained classification results are reflected on the way to draw facial caricatures. Above methods enable richer expressions of facial caricatures. |
