The effects of aging on drift eye movements

(in English) In this study, we analyzed the fluctuation properties of fixation eye movements to evaluate the influence of aging on them. We measured fixation eye movements of 100 healthy subjects whose age range was from 20s to 60s. By applying a microsaccade elimination algorithm using a linear autoregressive model, drift eye movements were extracted and the characteristics of fluctuation such as frequency characteristics were analyzed. The results show that as the age progresses, the low-frequency component of the power spectrum of drift eye movements decreases and the high-frequency component increases.
