Super Hi-Vision (SHV) is the next generation broadcasting service using ultra high-definition videos. In Japan, the test broadcasting of SHV has already been started and the public broadcasting is scheduled to begin in 2018. Therefore, while the equipment for SHV program production is currently being developed, the 1.2-GHz/2.3-GHz wireless link system for live production of road races, called mobile relay FPU (Field Pick-up Unit), is also required to enable transmission of SHV video materials. In order to achieve both large capacity for SHV transmission and high reliability for live broadcasting of mobile relay FPUs, the authors have been researching a 4x4 TDD (Time Division Duplex) - SVD (Singular Value Decomposition) - MIMO (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) system with adaptive transmission control which changes beam-forming weights, modulation schemes and coding rates of turbo codes in accordance with time-varying channel conditions. In this report, we describe underlying techniques of our proposed system and show that our proposed system can achieve better BER performance compared to that of conventional FPU by computer simulations. Furthermore, we report that our prototype realized mobile transmission of SHV live videos with a transmission rate of over 100 Mbps in outdoor field trial. |
