Study on improvement of depth recovery by the camera simulating fixational eye movements
Yuichiro Deguchi, Norio Tagawa (Tokyo Metropolitan Univ)
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In this study, we investigate the effectiveness of using random camera motion simulating fixation eye movement instead of conventional continuous camera motion with respect to a structure from motion problem. It can be expected that an appropriate optical flow direction and size exist depending on the intensity pattern of each pixel. By using appropriate camera motions adaptively for each pixel, it is possible to perform highly accurate depth recovery without tracking the target object. In this paper, through experiments using real images, we clarify the characteristics of the appropriate optical flow for the intensity pattern and report on the findings for developing the depth recovery method based on the fixation eye movement camera in the future.
