Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) We conducted liquid crystal (LC) driving experiments of nematic LC (NLC) and ferroelectric LC (FLC) using small-pitch comb electrodes to realize electronic holographic displays having wide field of view. In NLC cell, individual pixel driving is not achieved in NLC cell because of the leakage of the electric field and the penetration of the elastic force of LC. From the results of the experiments, in FLC cell, more individual LC driving was achieved by the symmetry of the electric field distribution and the balance of the elastic force of LC between ON- and OFF-state pixels. These results contribute to the realization of binary-amplitude-type spatial light modulator having small-pitch pixels.
