4K · 8K broadcasting by satellite broadcast started on December 1. In the future, 4K / 8K broadcasting by terrestrial wave is expected to be realized. For 4K / 8K broadcasting, the amount of information is dramatically increased compared to the conventional 2K. Therefore, it is necessary to adopt a modulation system with good transmission efficiency. The carrier modulation system of the OFDM system adopted for the present terrestrial digital broadcasting is a maximum of 64 QAM. For this reason, we evaluated the transmission performance of the higher-order modulation system of 256 QAM and 1024 QAM beyond this. We did a theory consideration to Gaussian noise and confirmed by computer simulation. In addition, the performance against multipath and the performance against amplifier nonlinear distortion are clarified by computer simulation and are reported. |
