Study of the beam control method of the Ka-band multi-beam broadcasting satellite system using meteorological data -- Evaluation of the effectiveness of Rader AMeDAS precipitation data --

(in English) In order to achieve higher definition broadcasting, the use of the higher frequency band such as the Ka-band (30/20GHz) is discussed in next-generation of the broadcasting system. However, the degree of the rain attenuation gets large in accordance with the frequency. Therefore, it is necessary to introduce the rain fade mitigation technique. We suggest the Ka-band of the multi-beam satellite broadcasting system in order to maintain the link quality. In the proposed method, first, the following rain effect on the link of each beam is predicted based on the precipitation data of each service area obtained by AMeDAS. Next, the transmission power of several beams is controlled based on the prediction. In this article, the simulation result of the proposed method using the Rader AMeDAS precipitation data or prediction estimation data has been shown.
