Radiation pattern of 145MHz monopole antenna mounted on a simplified motorcycle model

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In a previous study, the authors assumed vehicle-to-vehicle communication using an amateur radio and researched on a monopole antenna grounded on the frame of a motorcycle. In this study, we focused on the metallic frame of a motorcycle, in which the antenna conducts the majority of the current. As a starting point for investigating antenna design guidelines, we created a simplified model of a motorcycle equipped with a monopole antenna. This paper shows an H-plane radiation pattern due to differences in the number of riders and passengers using the simplified model. Thus, we determined that the presence of a human body attenuates gain values by up to approximately 12 dB.
