Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Various factors influence depth perception such as perspective, color, contrast, etc. In this study, we focus on the depth perception caused by blur effects on objects in a 2D image. To investigate various depth perception, experiments on casting blur effects on the inner region and boundary region of objects, were conducted. As results, there are three findings. First, we found greater variations of depth perception when blurring sharp area than when blurring unclear area. We also found that an object with sharp texture was perceived further when casting the blur effects on it. Finally, stronger variation of depth perception was observed when casting the blur effects on the inner region, comparing to the boundary region of the object.
