Detection of Partially Polarized Light by CMOS Image Sensor with Polarizers Discretely Placed

(in English) Light is specularly reflected on a wet or frozen road surface, and specular reflection light has partial polarization. Due to this property, presence and position of water pool or freezing on the road surface can be detected by detection of partial polarization. In this research, a CMOS image sensor with wire grid polarizers discretely placed is designed. A method for detecting partial polarization by a discretely arranged polarizer is proposed, and the method is evaluated by verification using OpenCV and actual measurement using a prototype chip.
