Performance of the Advanced ISDB-T in SFN Environment -- Comparison with ISDB-T --

(in English) NHK has been developing the advanced ISDB-T (Integrated Services Digital Broadcasting-Terrestrial) to realized 4K/8K broadcasting service via terrestrial. The advanced ISDB-T increases signal bandwidth and improves segment structure in order to realize large transmission capacity and flexible hierarchical transmission while inheriting the similar segment structure to ISDB-T. ISDB-T adopts OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) and constructs SFN(Single Frequency Network) for efficient use of frequency. It is necessary for the advanced ISDB-T to confirm transmission characteristics in SFN and compare with ISDB-T. A large-scale experiment was conducted in the Nagoya area, and the channel response in the actual SFN environment was obtained. We report the evaluation result of transmission characteristics for the advanced ISDB-T and ISDB-T in SFN environment by laboratory experiment using the obtained channel response.
