Effects of auditory information synchronized with physical movement on performance of Japanese calligraphy
Yui Asakawa (Yokohama National Univ.), Katsunori Okajima (Yokohama National Univ)
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Conventionally, visualization using images or mirrors is often used to acquire skills in sports and education. On the other hand, auditory information synchronized with physical movement are expected to be effective in improving physical ability. For example, the difference between the current movement and the exerciser's past movements can be compared using sound. In this study, we focused on Japanese calligraphy and created a learning system that converts the vertical movement and the rotation angle of the brush axis into sound. In addition, the experiment results showed that the practice using the present system is more effective in imitating the shape of the model letter compared to general practice.
