Characteristics of changes in strain inside a landslide detected by annual measurement with TW-COTDR

(in English) Strain changes were measured in a landslide mass in Shimane, Japan from March 2018 to March 2019 via TW-COTDR with time interval of 6 hours. A 364 m-long fiber optic cable was fixed in: (1) a 16 m-deep borehole and (2) 30 cm-deep channels parallel to landslide surface. Results from the borehole showed that strain changes in shallower zone (near the surface) were sensitive to rainfall events and that those around the slip surface, which locates at 8 m below the landslide surface, were less sensitive to precipitations although strain continuously increased to reach the maximum strain change of ca. 750 me. Strain changes parallel to the slope showed unclear relationship with precipitations in some regions, and the values also vary with location.
