[Invited Talk] VPOF System for New 4K8K Broadcasting

(in English) In the new intermediate frequency band expanded by the “New 4K8K Broadcasting”, we are proceeding with the opticalization of wiring as a fundamental solution to the radio interference that is a concern. However, glass-SMF (Single Mode Fiber), which is currently the mainstream, has problems such as safety, construction expertise, and high introduction costs, and there are still high hurdles for dissemination in detached houses and small apartment buildings. Therefore, we have developed transmission equipment using POF (Plastic Optical Fiber) that has a short transmission distance but can achieve high safety and simple construction. This time, we will introduce “VPOF system”, a new broadcasting transmission system using POF.
