Experimental validation of noise reduction techniques for multi-level amplitude modulation holographic memory

(in English) Holographic memory is a promising technology as next-generation optical data storage because of its advantages including large capacity, high data-transfer rate, and long archival life of recording media. We have been studying on the holographic memory for video archiving use, and demonstrated recording / reproducing data pages using a data page format with binary symbol. For further increase of capacity and data-transfer rate, recording and reproduction using a data page format with multi-level symbol is essential. In this report, we focus on 4-level amplitude modulation holographic memory, and we consider the noise source that causes bit-error in 4-level amplitude modulation. Then, we propose the methods for suppressing the effect of noise. Finally, we experimentally demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods.
