[Invited Lecture] Optical Video Transmission Technique using FM conversion

(in English) Broadcast-type optical video transmission method that transmit multi-channel video signals such as terrestrial digital signals and BS/CS signals from video distribution companies to each user's home via the FTTH network, are mainly Intensity modulation scheme and FM conversion scheme. In intensity modulation scheme, frequency division multiplexed (FDM) multi-channel video signals are transmitted by modulating the intensity of the optical signal, while in FM conversion scheme, FDM video signals are converted into a broadband FM signal before modulating the intensity of optical signal. This paper describes the characteristics and system configuration of the FM conversion scheme, and then explains the optical transmitter, optical receiver, and optical network design.
