A study on Bandwidth Extension for Advanced ISDB-T -- Experimental Results for Protection Ratios of ISDB-T Signal Interfered with by Advanced ISDB-T Signal Using Terrestrial TV Transmitter --

(in English) NHK has been developing the advanced ISDB-T system for 4K·8K services of terrestrial broadcasting. In order to increase the transmission capacity, the signal bandwidth of the advanced system is extended from 5.57MHz to 5.83MHz. To transmit the signal with 5.83MHz bandwidth in the UHF band occupied with current terrestrial broadcasting, it is mandatory to avoid interference with current terrestrial broadcasting. Therefore, we investigated the maximum permissible levels of interference caused by the signal with 5.83MHz bandwidth using the advanced ISDB-T modulator and terrestrial TV transmitter. The result shows that the values meet the protection ratio.
