Comparisons of Baseball Practice Swings by Motion Capture

(in English) We compared baseball practice swings using motion data to clarify the features of unique practice swings. We measured the human motions of the normal swings, the reverse possession swings, and the large share swings of one player ten times with an optical motion capture system. The armpit’s opening angle, the waist’s rotation angle, and the bat tip’s speed were calculated as feature values from the captured 3D data. We compared the calculated feature values and found that the waist’s rotation angle in the practice swings with large shares exceeded the normal swings. The side angle in the practice swings of reverse possession is smaller than normal swings.
