Proposal on optical transmission system by QR code using a spatial optical modulator

(in English) We are studying on a live video delivery system that carries images taken in the sea via a spherical repeater covered with some retro-reflective sheet. We have shown that retroreflectors help an optical transmitter track the repeater with visible light easier. However, we need lots of LEDs to send information for instruction on camera shooting from a ship on the ocean to the submarine, that is in the opposite direction to the image, and the improvement of the power efficiency had been an issue. We propose a spatial light modulator that has pieces of divided PNLC into vertically and horizontally and the retroreflective sheet. Realizing a target spatial optical modulator with a QR code scale, we succeeded in producing a switchable element with 11 ×11 patches, sending a micro QR code.
