Transmission Capacity Expansion of Next Generation Mobile Relay FPU -- Performance Evaluation by Field Trial --

(in English) In order to expand a capacity of mobile relay FPUs, the authors have been researching a 4x4 TDD-SVD-MIMO system with adaptive transmission control that changes beam-forming weights, bit and power allocation, and turbo-code rates in accordance with channel conditions. For further expansion of transmission capacity, we increased a total number of bits transmitted through 4 streams from 16 to 20 and conducted a field trial to evaluate its effect. The result showed that our prototype system improved the maximum data rate from 145 Mbps to 180 Mbps over practical radio channels. From the analysis of allocated bits in each stream, we also found that the maximum number of bits allocated to one stream was 9 and didn’t exceed the number of bits supported by the proposed system.
