Aging effects on characteristics of fixation eye movements in an RSVP task

In this study, we evaluated the relationship between the effects of
aging on the characteristics of fixation eye movements and dicline
in cognitive function in 100 subjects from their 20s to 60s. We
measured the fixation eye movement during an RSVP task, which is a
typical experimental method for controlling focal attention, and
evaluated the relationship among various characteristics of the
fixation eye movements, task performance, and age. As a result, the
microsaccade latency increased with age and correlated with the
decrease in task performance. This suggests that an objective
evaluation of age-dependent cognitive function based on the tests
using the RSVP task is feasible. |
