We are currently developing an advanced Integrated Services Digital Broadcasting-Terrestrial (ISDB-T) system to provide 4K/8K terrestrial broadcasting service for fixed reception and 2K service for mobile reception within a channel simultaneously. We have already evaluated the reception performance of the system by a computer simulation, laboratory tests and practical field trials. In this paper, we evaluated the transmission performance of all combinations of the carrier modulation and the code rate of forward error correction for the Bit-Interleaved Coded Modulation in fixed reception scenarios by computer simulation. In addition, we selected 6 combinations from the viewpoint of required C/N operated in Japan and verified their transmission performances by laboratory tests. In multipath environment, the degradation in the transmission performance becomes higher with higher code rate, but it was confirmed that the degradation due to 10 dB echo is less than 1 dB. |
