Snow fall regions are facing the challenges such as the aging and decrease in the number of the snow removal workers. Research on efficient collection of road conditions has been conducted and further improvement of road management is expected. Especially, the analysis of images obtained from in-vehicle cameras is expected to be a low-cost information collecting method. Therefore, by estimating the road narrowing conditions by piled snow using the images obtained from in-vehicle camera, the efficient of the snow removal is expected. In the proposed method, the images obtained from the in-vehicle camera are analyzed hierarchical two steps and classified into three classes of road narrowing conditions. In each step, the features that focus on the color and frequency of the image, and features that focus on road structures that are not affected by the lighting are calculated, respectively. In the last part of this paper, in order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, three experiments are conducted. The experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed method. |
